Release notes
0.10.0
0.10.0 26 October 2026
- WeatherRouting moved to https://weatherrouting.sailsoft.tech. The old address forwards there. Online, log in once more on the new address.
- The app signs in with an account instead of an SSH key: open Settings › Relay account, type your mail address and the code that arrives by mail. "Make my key" is gone. Already using WeatherRouting with a key? Install this version, then sign in with the address Steef has for you. New here? Ask for an account on the download page.
- A new title bar: the area list, separate wind and current choices, and buttons for the split view, pins, the measuring ruler and live updates. The cursor shows the values under it, and a pin keeps them on the map.
- The tide graph shows one day, two days or a week. The coastline is drawn as a black line.
- Route calculations are faster, and the Results list opens quickly even with many calculations.
- GEM GDPS (Canada) downloads complete again.
- Chart editors save chart corrections through the new relay.
- WeatherRouting is free software under the AGPL-3.0-or-later licence. About shows the licence and the credits, and the download page offers the source code of each version.
- The polar collection is no longer included, because its source and licence are unknown. The example boat sails a generic 38 ft cruiser; the polars you added yourself stay.
0.9.1 23 October 2026
- Security update: the Node.js that comes with WeatherRouting is now 24.22.1, with the fixes of the 21 October Node.js security release (among them a flaw in Brotli decompression). Install this version over the previous one; your data and settings stay.
0.9.0 22 October 2026
- The Tidal gates tab is now Tides. Every tide station is on the map, and a click shows its tide for the day in a window you can move, size and fold like the instruments, with high and low waters, LAT and HAT. A station row in the Tides tab opens to the same graph; its checkbox puts the station in the window.
- More tide stations to pick a reference port from (551 instead of 388): rivers and estuaries are included, recent measurements are preferred, and series from before the Delta Works are left out. Each station shows the years it was measured.
- Chart corrections: map fixes made once on the online version reach every install through the relay. Corrected outlines of any zone (a wind farm can be split in two), a rule for everyone on wind farms and restricted areas (your own setting still wins), objects added where OpenStreetMap lacks them (such as roundabouts), and holes that turned out harmless.
- Protected areas that Overpass could not deliver are fetched again after a day; the Areas tab says when to download again. A roundabout moved from the shared zones into the chart corrections loses the personal settings people had on its old scheme.
0.8.0 22 October 2026
- Traffic lanes from OpenStreetMap are drawn much closer to the chart: each side reaches its own boundary, lanes join across gaps and run on to the lane they face. Download your areas' zones again to get them (the Areas tab says so).
- Traffic lanes corrected by hand reach every install through the relay: a corrected outline, a lane that is only a recommended direction (routes may cross it any way), and holes that turned out to be harmless. The zone list shows what was corrected.
- Roundabouts in a traffic separation scheme are now transited counter-clockwise by default; Avoid is still a choice per area or scheme.
- Every time is shown in one time zone: your device's (followed when you cross into another zone) or one you choose in Settings. A badge on the map says which. Model runs read as models name them, e.g. run 18 Oct 06Z.
- The new-version line links to that version's release notes.
- Areas across the date line or round the whole globe get their GFS wind complete, and downloading GFS wind for a very small area no longer fails.
- A GRIB file dropped into the inbox folder shows up in the Areas tab at once, and Cancel stops a GRIB import at once instead of waiting for it to finish.
- Settings › About no longer waits for the relay when mx is slow to answer.
- What is on the map is ticked in Results, and an unticked line stays listed until you change the filters.
- Graphs switch language at once, and Automatic follows a change of the browser's language.
- Calculation rows in Results open with the keyboard, and Escape closes the map menu. While you edit a boat, the boats list waits, so a stray click no longer drops your changes.
- The instruments' resize grip stays clickable when the cards scroll.
- Starting WeatherRouting twice by accident starts it once. On a Mac, the Read me says to allow Terminal into your folders. Linux: the install instructions do everything in a Terminal, which works on every desktop.
0.7.0 19 October 2026
- The reference router is now the default way routes are calculated.
- While you edit an area, the map shows where each regional model's coverage ends, so you can fit the area inside a model.
- Report an issue with a route: a calculation's details have a button that sends it to Steef with everything needed to calculate it again. Feedback can take the calculations on the map along too.
- Results remembers its filters (this area or all, the departure day) when you fold the panel or switch tabs.
- The route menu in Results acts on the whole route and says how many calculations the filters hide.
- Pinned calculations keep their colour, and a pinned newest calculation no longer counts twice toward the limit of 8.
- With many calculations at once, a few run at a time and the others wait their turn.
- Tool bars no longer cover the instruments.
0.6.0 18 October 2026
- Import routes and tracks from GPX files (OpenCPN, Navionics, a Raymarine plotter and others): Routes tab, Import GPX.
- Export a saved route as a GPX route, and a calculation as a GPX track, to see it in a chart app or on a plotter.
- Make a navigation route from a calculation: a route with few waypoints along it, every leg checked for land, coast distance and zones, to look at in the Routes tab before you export it.
- Settings: the most points a route may have (500 unless you change it).
0.5.1 18 October 2026
- A departure sweep shows its fastest departure that arrives at the tidal gate in a window. Mark another with the star to show that one instead, and tick more departures to compare them on the map.
- Sort a sweep's departures by clicking a column header; the table now also shows sailing and motoring time.
- Drag the side panel's left edge to make it wider.
- The Tidal gates tab moved after Boats.
0.5.0 18 October 2026
- Departure sweeps: calculate a route for a range of departure times and see on one graph which ones arrive at a tidal gate while there is enough water.
- Underway, a route to a tidal gate shows whether you will be early, in time or late, and how much time to lose.
0.4.5 18 October 2026
- A Tidal gates tab: add sills, bars and locks with their standard port and almanac differences, and see their tide for a day.
- Downloads from the relay are a quarter to a half of their former size.
0.4.4 18 October 2026
- Tidal gates with local tide curves, worked out from a standard port.
- Boats have a draught and a safety margin.
- A download for Macs with an Intel processor.
- The Yes of a delete is visible in menus again.
0.4.3 18 October 2026
- While the relay fetches a newer run, the app waits for it and shows what it is doing; you can also download that model directly.
0.4.2 17 October 2026
- The relay removes files it prepared for you once your app has them.
0.4.1 17 October 2026
- Zones (traffic separation schemes, wind farms, …) come through the relay.
- The app reaches the relay again after updating from 0.3.0 or 0.4.0.
0.4.0 17 October 2026
- New weather models: the Canadian GEM GDPS and the Dutch KNMI HARMONIE-AROME.
0.3.0 17 October 2026
- The app now installs into a fixed folder and keeps your data in a folder of its own, so an update replaces only the app.
0.2.4 17 October 2026
- Your relay key is still found after an update.
- A badge shows when the app works without the relay.
0.2.2 17 October 2026
- The app's version shows next to "online".
0.2.1 17 October 2026
- A test of the message that a new version is out; nothing else changed.
0.2.0 17 October 2026
- Version numbers, and a message in the app when a new version can be downloaded.
